About

The Middle East are a band from Townsville, Australia. Their sound is varied but could be described broadly as folk-rock or alt-country. They were signed in Australia to Spunk Records.

Their EP ‘Recordings of The Middle East’ and their their album ‘I Want That You Are Always Happy’ are available on iTunes and other places. After moderate success and some national and international touring the band announced their retirement in 2011. The main song-writers, Rohin Jones and Jordan Ireland are touring and releasing solo material in 2012.

This is an unofficial and unauthorised web site/blog for fans of the The Middle East created initially as a place to post song lyrics and info about the band when it was hard to find much about them on the internet.

The band has an official site here and an official Facebook page which you should visit and ‘like’.

If you would like to contribute content or corrections to this blog then please send me an email or just leave a comment somewhere. (And a big thank you to those who have already contributed stuff).

Here is ‘Blood’, the band’s most well known song:

Hey, I’m keen to set up a gig for TME to play with ‘The Art of Sleeping’. They would pull an epic crowd in Brisbane, bring Sam Rowe or Dragging Piano’s as well for good measure.

    to clarify
bring Sam Rowe from Dragging Piano’s as well for good measure.

Just so you know this blog is not a good way to contact the band. Perhaps try getting in touch with one of the contacts listed here: https://visitthemiddleeast.wordpress.com/2009/09/02/new-management/

    Hi glosoli

Just wanted to let you know I have been a TME fan from way back, I often read this blog, I wish deeply they had never toured the world and then broke up (I’d rather they’d stayed small, occasional and unpressured, but that’s just selfish) and I still trawl the web looking for new live video.

So I’m one who still reads and enjoys the occasional update. Hope you can keep it going.

Does anyone know where I can get in contact with this band?

    • Jay Nash says:

      Hey Amy,

I wanted to see if you had any luck getting the contact information? I am looking to reach out to obtain “licensing rights” for our wedding video and I can’t find any band contact information or info about who holds the rights in the US. Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks so much
